The TheWeddingVendor.com site re-write is coming along nicely. I have been working with AnM Development on this site for the past few years. We worked together to create both TheWeddingVendor.com (TWV) and HeresOurWedding.com (HOW). TWV caters to brides searching for vendors such as florists, djs, and stylists while (HOW) is a site where a couple can create a wedding anouncement site.
Originally the idea was to get cross traffic between the two sites but the company has decided that the two would work better as a single entity. That is where the re-write comes in. Rather than just host the HOW site on the TWV domain we decided to completely re-write everything, merge the two together, and make it more scalable. This will benefit the users of the site, the vendors, and even more so, AnM Development.
The site is written in PHP with a MySQL backend. While it may look pretty simple as you click through the site there is quite a lot happening behind the scenes. Ads are displayed based on region, there is a rather extensive CMS to maintain the site, vendors have the ability to edit their own ads at will, users can edit their engagement sites (think wedding social networking), and there is an ability to report couples looking for vendors directly to vendors in their area.
There has also been a lot of Javascript added to enhance the user experience. The site edit form has been broken down into individually submittable sections via Ajax while still remaining all on a single page. Animations and effects have also been added to create a better overall user experience.
Look for the new site to go live very soon. I am working hard to get it done!
